Steps to Installing Laminate Over Linoleum:

Whether you are installing, living room, bedroom, bathroom or kitchen laminate flooring Newbold, there is one thing that you need to remember and that is to follow the instructions given below. If you want to achieve clean and professional results, then make sure to read these instructions, re-read them, understand them and then act accordingly.

  1. Measure your floor’s length and width to determine how much of the laminate you need to buy and get 10 percent more than that.
  2. Now take out quarter-round and baseboards trim above linoleum using the back of claw hammer or a pry bar. Carefully remove the trim so you can reinstall it without getting new trim.
  3. Now take underlayment and roll it over the tiles of linoleum. Cut its ends using a utility knife and leave around 2-inches space between the wall and underlayment.
  4. Place the first laminate flooring row along with a wall and place half-inch plastic spacers between wall and flooring to leave room for expansion.
  5. Now snap next row’s first board’s tongue into the groove of first row’s last boards. Gently tap the boards into place using the hammer. Cut second row’s last board to fit and then snap it into its place.
  6. Snap all the remaining rows together using the same method and when you are at the final row, be sure to calculate the distance between the last row you laid and the wall and leave half an inch for plastic spacers and then cut the size of last row accordingly.
  7. Now you just need to install the quarter-round and baseboard trim using the wood finish nails.
  8. Countersink the wood finish nails by gently tapping them using an awl and hammer. You can also use another nail to hold between the nail you are countersinking and the hammer instead of awl.
  9. Lastly, just cover the depressions of the nail using wood putty matching the baseboard’s colour and then when the wood putty dries, sand it until the surface is even.

So these are a few things that you need to keep in mind to ensure the installation process goes smoothly and you get professional results. Whether you are installing black laminate flooring Newbold or white laminate flooring Newbold, you need to remember that you need to place the flooring in a way that it appears seamless and doesn’t have any tongues or grooves sticking out.
